Christian Apologetics toward Islam and Missions to Muslims

Stop The Genocide – Part 4

Listen to today’s broadcast:

GenocideThis week we are looking at the genocide committed against Christians by Muslims. The reason Muslims are committing such atrocities against Christians is simply because they are not Muslims and Islam commands them to do so.

We see the increase of the killing of non-Muslim around the world. If you think this will not happen here in North America ask the British about how Muslims kill innocent people on the public streets of London. It was just last May that a Muslim, because of his belief in the teachings of Muhammad, felt compelled to run down a soldier with his car and to chop off his head in the middle of the street in London. If you think this is going to stay overseas you are mistaken. This is the mission of Islam.

Today we are going to talk about why Muslims will Kill Christians. Before I get into this I want to say again, I don’t blame Muslims for this. It is the teaching of Islam that is driving these people who are misinformed. They are simply following their scriptures as we follow ours. If they are going to be good Muslims they must do these things. Islam makes them murderers.

We are going to get into their scriptures a little to help you understand why Muslims are carrying out these heinous acts.

First I want to tell you about one of their lies that we hear often. They will quote from the Qur’an a passage that says not to kill people. They tell us that the Qur’an tells them they are to be peaceful and they will quote Surah 5:32, but they wont quote all of it. Let me quote what they will quote and then show you the whole verse.

whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely.

In other words, if someone kills another person, unless this person was a criminal or had done something deserving of death, then they are guilty as if they had killed all of mankind. Here is what the whole verse says:

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.

They will use this verse to tell us that they are to be good and to save people’s lives. They tell us that those who are killing are not carrying out the real teachings of Islam. This is a lie they try to sell to us.

You will notice that the beginning of the verse says “Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel…” We see that this is not talking about Muslims. It is a directive that Allah had given to the children of Israel. The very next verse tells us what Muslims are supposed to do:

Vs. 33Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,

If a Muslim sees someone who is at war with Allah he is commanded to do that which is in this verse. Who is at war with Islam? We will see that it is anyone who is not a Muslim. If you are outside of Islam then you deserved to be killed, crucified, have your hand and foot cut off on opposite sides, or be exiled from the land.

You tell me, what is the real teaching of Islam according to these two verses? Allah gave instructions to the Jews not to kill someone who is an innocent person, The very next verse commands violence against all who are not Muslims.

Muslims also say that Christians have done some evil deeds and some bad things. Are they saying that because someone else has done wrong, they are now justified in doing wrong?

They will bring up what I call the two C’s. They will bring up either the crusades or colonialism. Neither of these is the face of scriptural Christianity.

They look at the British with their colonialism and the growth of the British Empire. It is true that there was abuse and innocent people died at the hands of the British as they were building their colonies around the world. But this is not the work of Bible believing Christians

Their favorite response is to bring up the crusades. Yes, the crusades were horrific. In the name of Christianity countless thousands of Muslims were killed. Without trying to justify the crusades let me say two things that will put them in their proper context.

First, every crusade started by the Muslims first coming in and stealing lands with the sword. Muslims conquered lands that had previously been “Christian” lands with the sword, killing many Christians and stealing their wealth. The Christians responded by taking the lands back. This is the part of the story that Muslims will not tell.

The second thing I want to say is that these things were not done by Scriptural Christianity (Those who follow the Scriptures). There is nothing in the Bible that teaches Christians to respond in this way.

On the other hand, there is much in the teachings of the Qur’an and the Sunnah that dictates this kind of behavior for Muslims. The Qur’an and the Sunnah make up what we call Shariah Law.

Rather than give you my interpretation of the Muslim scriptures I am going to give you theirs. The best way to do this is to go to their law book, The Reliance of the Traveller. This book is the result of years of study and jurisprudence by the best legal and theological scholars of Islam.

Section o9.0 deals with jihad. Here is how their law book defines jihad:

(O: Jihad means to war against non-Muslims, and is etymologically derived from the word mujahada signifying warfare to establish the religion. And it is the lesser jihad. As for the greater jihad, it is spiritual warfare against the lower self (nafs), which is why the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said as he was returning from jihad.

“We have returned from the lesser jihad to the greater jihad.”

Let me clarify this for you. The greater jihad is the war than man wages against his own soul. It is a constant struggle. It is within the heart and the mind of the individual. We need to understand that Muslims don’t have the power of the Holy Spirit within them. They are struggling to live a good life without the power of God.

As Christians we have the power of God within us through the Holy Spirit. When someone is saved they become a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17). Even though we have the power of the Holy Spirit, we can understand the struggle others have with the old nature because we have the same struggle.

The lesser jihad is the actual, physical, warfare against the non-believer.

Lets continue looking at what they say in their law book:

The scriptural basis for jihad, prior to scholarly consensus (def: b7) is such Koranic verses as:

(1) “Fighting is prescribed for you” (Koran 2:216);

(2) “Slay them wherever you find them” (Koran 4:89);

(3) “Fight the idolators utterly” (Koran 9:36);

For most of the life of Muhammad there was relative peace between him and the Christians. Near the end of his life he began to treat Christians as idolaters, claiming we were worshiping three gods, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He, therefore, saw us as polytheists, pagans, and idolaters. He saw the Catholic Church with her statues and praying to them as idolatry Later the Muslims saw the same in the Orthodox church with their icons.

Lets continue reading what their law book says:

and such hadiths as the one related by Bukhari and Muslim that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said:

“I have been commanded to fight people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and perform the prayer, and pay zakat. If they say it, they have saved their blood and possessions from me, except for the rights of Islam over them. And their final reckoning is with Allah”;

Muhammad says that he has been commanded to “fight people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”

Come back tomorrow and we will continue with this discussion.
