5 Myths of Islam – Part 1

Listen to today’s broadcast:

Religion of Peace?

Religion of Peace?

There are a lot of false things being taught concerning Islam. If we were back in WWII we would be dealing with Hitler’s propaganda machine. It would be feeding us disinformation. In like manner, Islam has a propaganda machine that is feeding us disinformation.

Muhammad told his followers that war is deceit. Islam has declared war on the unbelievers. We need to understand that those who are “scriptural Muslims,” those who are following the teachings of the Islamic scriptures, see themselves at war with us.

Popular Myth No. 1 – Islam is a Religion of Peace

First we need to know that Islam has a different definition of peace that we do. Peace to a Muslim had two conditions. The first is that each Muslim works to bring his nation into Islam and under submission to Allah. The second condition is that they work to establish Islamic or Shariah law. When these two conditions are met they are told that Allah will bring peace and justice.

That is not the definition of peace to us in the West. To us in the West peace is living peacefully with our neighbors side by side, each living their life as they want without stepping on the rights of the other.

With a Muslim there can only be peace if all are submitted to Islam. They cannot tolerate anything outside of their ideology.

From the above it should be obvious that there can be no peace with Islam unless we all submit to Islam. This is a basic principle that most of the political leaders in the west don’t seem to be able to grasp.

Tony Blair, the former prime minister of England, says that he reads the Qur’an and the Bible every day. He also said, “I have read the Qur’an three times and all I can find is peace and tolerance.”

I guess Mr Blair’s Qur’an is absent of verses like Surah 9:5

But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war).”

Or

Surah 9:29 “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.”

These two verses are commandments for all Muslims for all time. You should notice that it did not say, fight those who fight you. No, they are to fight those who don’t believe as they do.

But what about the violence in the Old Testament? Yes, we will find violence in the Old Testament and some of it is very graphic and at times no mercy is given at all. But the big difference is that the Old Testament was DESCRIPTIVE about violence. The Qur’an is PRESCRIPTIVE about violence.

The Old Testament records and ‘describes’ the accounts when God gave Israel orders to annihilate specific people at a specific time. It is ‘descriptive’ of a historical event. There are some Qur’anic passages that are descriptive too, but you will find most of the violence in the Qur’an, and especially the Sunnah, to be ‘prescriptive.’ In other words it is PRESCRIBING the act of violence on the Kafir (non-Muslims) for all time.

We need to remember that within Islam there is the principle of abrogation. In the early chapters of the Qur’an, those parts that were written in Mecca, there was no compulsion in religion. These passages are abrogated by the later passages written from, and after, Medina.

Surah 9 is significant because it is believed to be the last Surah Muhammad received. This Surah, being the lasts, abrogates everything that came before it. As we have seen, according to Surah 9 Muslims are to kill all those who don’t believe in Allah. What is it that those who say Islam is a religion of peace don’t understand about the word “kill?”

We, in America and the West, need to understand that their can be no peace with Islam as long as we do not submit to Islam. The only other way is if we submit and pay a special tax called the jizya. However, the peace that comes with this “dhimmitude” is only as long as the Muslims want to grant it.

If you want to see if Islam is a religion of peace just look at Islamic nations and see how much peace is found in them. There is no peace in those countries who follow Shariah law and Islam is not a religion of peace.

According to the teaching of Islam you are either in ‘Dar-al-Islam’ [the house or realm of Islam (submission)] or ‘Dar-al-Harb.’ [the house of war]. You are either friend or foe, there is no middle ground.

We will continue this discussion on the five myths of Islam tomorrow.
