Christian Apologetics toward Islam and Missions to Muslims

Popular Myths of Islam – Part 2

Listen to today’s broadcast:

TJehovahOrAllahoday we will continue our look at the 5 popular myths of Islam. We will be looking at the second popular myth of Islam.

Myth No. 2 Allah and Jehovah are the same God

To show the error of this myth we are going to compare doctrine with doctrine. Muslims believe that Allah was the God of Adam, Moses, David,Solomon and even Jesus. But when you examine what the Qur’an teaches about Allah and what the Bible teaches about Jehovah, they cannot possibly be the same God. Let’s compare.

When we talk to Muslims about God’s attitude toward sinners we find that Allah and Jehovah have a completely different attitudes. The Qur’an makes it very clear that Allah does not love sinners.

Surah. 2:190 “Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors.”

Surah 3:57 “As to those who believe and work righteousness, Allah will pay them (in full) their reward; but Allah loveth not those who do wrong.”

On the other hand, the Bible makes it clear that God does love sinners.

John 3:16; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us,in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

How could these two be the same God? How can a god that doesn’t love sinners (transgressors) be the same God as a God who, while we were yet sinners, came to die for us in the Son, Jesus Christ?

This leads us to the next proof that they are not the same God. Allah has no son and Jehovah has a Son, Jesus Christ.

Surah 39:4; Had Allah wished to take to Himself a son, He could have chosen whom He pleased out of those whom He doth create: but Glory be to Him! (He is above such things.) He is Allah, the One, the Irresistible.

Yet Jehovah does have a Son

John 3:16; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Matt 3:16-17 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Muslims confirm that Allah has no son in their daily prayers. Most Muslims don’t know this because the daily prayers must be said in Arabic and most Muslims don’t speak Arabic. They memorize their prayers and repeat them without knowing what they are saying.

In their daily prayers they say “Lam yalid walam yoolad” (He begets not, nor is He begotten). This is speaking of Allah.

Allah denies that he is a father or that he has a son. Muslims pray this in their daily prayers. Therefore Allah is a false god and can never be associated with Jehovah. Their prayers are associated with Surah 112: 1-4.

Say, “He is Allah , [who is] One, Allah , the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent.

Clearly, Allah and Jehovah cannot be the same God. Allah is simple in his structure as he is one in one. While Jehovah is complex as he is three in one. Allah is not a father, he has no son, he is not the same as Jehovah.

Over and over again, Islam denies Christ. The Bible says that anyone who denies the doctrine of Christ has neither the Father or the Son (2 John 1:9). It also says that anyone who does not confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is the spirit of antichrist (1 John 4:2).

We see that Jehovah and Allah are not the same God. In fact, they are opposites.

Myth No. 3 The Prophet Muhammad is greater than Jesus Christ

Muslims believe in Jesus, and revere him as a great prophet, but no prophet is greater than Muhammad. Every good Muslim will say at least three times a day when they pray, “There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet.”

There is a great disconnect in Islam’s teaching here. In just looking at the Qur’an itself, it is clear that Jesus is greater than Muhammad.

The Qur’an says that Jesus performed miracles, that He was born of a virgin, calls Jesus holy sixteen time. None of these things are said about Muhammad.

Jesus was born of a Virgin. Muhammad was not.

Surah. 3:45-47
vs. 47 She said: “O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?” He said: “Even so: Allah createth what He willeth: When He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, ‘Be,’ and it is!

Jesus is called Holy sixteen times in the Qur’an, Muhammad was never called Holy.

Surah. 19:19 He said: “Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.

Jesus was without sin.

Sahih Muslim (Vol 4, pg 1261):
Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (saw) as saying: The satan touches every son of Adam on the day when his mother gives birth to him
with the exception of Mary and her son.

The Bible clearly makes in known that Jesus was without sin.

1 Peter 2:22; Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

2 Corinthians 5:21; For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Muhammad was a sinner.

Surah. 48:2 That Allah may forgive thee thy faults of the past and those to follow; fulfil His favour tothee; and guide thee on the Straight Way;

Bukhari, Vol 1,711
“…Muhammad replied, “I say, ‘O Allah, set me apart from my sins as the East and the West….clean me from my sins …”

Bukhari Vol 8,319 “I heard Allah’s apostle saying, ‘by Allah! I ask for forgiveness from Allah and turn to him in repentance…”

Bukari Vol 8, 407 “O my Lord! Forgive my sins…”

In spite of all of this, if you ask a Muslim who is the grater prophet they will answer that it is Muhammad. The reason that Muhammad is considered the greater is that Allah chose to give him the final revelation.

The Isa (Jesus) of the Qur’an denies deity and any sonship with Allah. Again Allah can not be a father nor a son according to the Qur’an. To the Muslim this is a very serious issue because of what it says in Surah 19.

Surah 19:88-93 And they say: ‘The Most Merciful (Allah) has taken (for Himself) a son.Assuredly you utter a hideous thing, whereby almost the heavens are torn, and the earth is split asunder and the mountains fall in ruins; That they ascribe unto the Most Merciful a son, when it is not suitable for (the Majesty of) the Most Merciful that He should take a son…

While the Qur’an teaches that Jesus was nothing more than a prophet, the Bible clearly teaches that Jesus was (is) fully God and fully man. Jesus is the Son of God, the second Person of the Trinity.

To promote the idea that Muhammad is greater than Jesus there are billboards going up in America. They say “find Jesus in the Qur’an 3:45.” The billboard in this picture is in Georgia, part of the Bible Belt. They are trying to convince people that the Isa of the Qur’an is the true Jesus, and the Jesus of the Bible is false.

This myth must be debunked. Jesus is more than a prophet, He is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus is the final answer for all of mankind for the forgiveness of sin and eternal life.

The Qur’an denies the deity of Christ at every turn. This is antichrist. It is a real problem for Muslims because if Jesus is God, which He is, then He is definitely the greater prophet.

Not only is the Muslim Jesus lower than Muhammad, he is lower than the Muslim messiah. There Jesus is not the Lord of lords and King of kings as is the Jesus of the Bible.

Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Tomorrow we will deal with the fourth myth: The Bible is corrupted but the Qur’an is pure”
