Christian Apologetics toward Islam and Missions to Muslims

The Foundations of Islam – Part 8

today I want to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving. This day was originally set aside for the purpose of thanking God for the blessings He has poured out upon this nation. Today commercialism has taken over this holiday. Many will be starting their Christmas shopping on this day. It is interesting how soon after Halloween we start hearing Christmas music everywhere.

let’s not let all of this commercialism rob us of this day to give thanks to God for His blessings. We do have much to be thankful for.

I am sure that most of you know the history of Thanksgiving. It started with the Pilgrims celebrating the bounty God had blessed them with.

One thing that you may not know is that thankful people are happier than those who are  not thankful. I found a study on the Internet that shows this to be true.

Here is a quote from the Wall Street Journal:

Grateful people are happier. It turns out that giving thanks is good for your health. A growing body of research suggests that maintaining an attitude of gratitude can improve psychological, emotional, and physical well being. Adults who frequently feel grateful have more energy, more optimism, more social connections, more happiness, than those who do not according to studies conducted over the last decade. They are also less likely to be depressed, envious, greedy, or alcoholics. They earn more money, sleep more soundly, exercise more regularly, and have greater resistance to viral infections. Now researchers are finding that gratitude brings similar results in children and adolescents. Kids who feel and act grateful tend to be less materialistic, get higher grades, set higher goals, complain of fewer headaches and stomach-aches, and feel more satisfied with their friends, families, and schools than those who don’t.

The Bible says”

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11:29 KJV

The expression “lowly in heart” speaks of not being so full of your self. The Bible says:

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.1 Romans 12:3 KJV

Often we are so consumed with ourselves that we don’t have time to be thankful. Let’s make a commitment to be truly thankful this Thanksgiving.

Now to our subject for the day.

MuhammadWhat Holds Islam Together?

As Muhammad’s life progressed he became more and more violent. Chapter 9 of the Qur’an is one of the later chapters. It is called the Chapter of the Sword. Verse 5 says fight them wherever you find them, verse 29 says fight them who believe not even if they are the people of the book and so forth.

In Christianity the last words of our Lord were to reach the world for Christ. The method was the preaching of the Word of God. In Islam that last words of their Prophet was dominate the world and the method was the sword.

What happened after Muhammad’s death? Did his successors change Islam into something different?

After the death of Muhammad there was a mass exodus from Islam. Those who were forced into submission to Islam, which was most of them, left. The first successor of Muhammad went on a killing spree to prevent them from leaving. He was purifying Islam to bring it back to what Muhammad had taught. Accounts make the number of those he killed has high as 50,000 in a period of 4 years.

The other succession began to spread Islam outside of the Arabian peninsula. By the first third of the 8th century, 732, they were half way into Europe. How did they do this? With the sword.

Think about this, when Muhammad tried to build Islam peacefully he only had at most 150 followers. When he started using the sword and sexual enticements his followers grew to over 100,00. When he died those who were converted this way tried to leave and killed for doing so. The only thing that has held Islam together over the centuries is the fear of the sword.

The promise of sexual blessing in Paradise, and the fact that dying of Allah is the only guarantee of salvation is what motivates the jihadist groups of our day. This religion grew by violence and is held together by violence.

Today there are many non-Muslims and “moderate” Muslims who say that the real Islam is expressed in the early passages and that Islam is a peaceful religion. If this were so Islam would have never had more than 150 converts. The growth of Islam is entirely based upon the sword and the enticements of sexual favors.

The only change we see is the division of the Sunni and the Shia Muslims between the third and fourth caliphs. This division is not over the teachings of Muhammad, it is over who is his rightful successor. One party says he must be a descendant of Muhammad and the other says it is not necessary. There are some other minor differences on things like eschatology, but both follow the teaching and practice of Muhammad. There is little practical difference between the two. ISSIS is Sunni and Iran is Shia. Both advocate the violent overthrow of all that is not Islam.

Radical Islam

These jihadi groups are referred to as “radical.” Let’s deal with that. Radical implies something outside of the norm. It refers to something that has departed from the norm and is radicalized.

The jihadist, the terrorist, are actually following the true teachings of Islam and the practice of the Prophet of Islam. It is deceptive and incorrect to call this radical Islam. To us it is radical because it is outside our normal behavior, but to Islam it is not. These groups are practicing orthodox Islam. I call them scriptural Muslims because they follow the scriptures of Islam. The believe that what they are doing is what god has called them to do.

I stand just as strong for what Jehovah God says as the jihadist groups stand for what Allah says. I believe what God said and I don’t care what others say, I am going to preach it and practice it.

Scriptural Muslims are doing the same thing. The difference is they are following an ideology that says kill. It is spread by the sword.

Shahram has asked “moderate” Muslims who know what the true teachings of Islam are, if he, as someone who has left Islam deserves to be killed. The will sheepishly always answer yes. They say that they are commanded to kill him if he will not come back to Islam. This is not radical, this is Islam.

The jihadists are not perverting Islam. They are not radicals from the standpoint of Islam. Islam itself is, however, radical when looked hat from the point of view of the rest of the world.

Islam is perverse from its beginning, it is a culture of death, it is demonic. The only way this religion can grow and continue to exist is by the sword.

In conclusion, we had better wake up. Islam is our enemy, its ideology is a threat to our way of life. If left unchecked it will result in the destruction of everything we hold dear.
