We have had a difficult week with the shootings in Orlando. Americans were targeted in the name of Allah. The shooter was carrying out the orders of the god of Islam. The left wants us to believe that this is not a problem with Islam, it is a problem with guns. If it were not so serious it would make us laugh.
We are living in a day where white is called black, black is called white, evil is called good, and good is called evil. God warned us of such people, and judgment is coming upon them.
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)
Sadly we will see more of this. Hopefully you will listen to our Saturday broadcast this week. We will be discussing more on this issue. If our Saturday broadcast is not in your area, it is on this website, just click on Saturday Programs.
At Fortress of Faith we often talk about some hard things which can be discouraging. Don’t despair. God is still on the throne. We are not living in our grandfather’s America any more. Times have changed and our nation has moved far away from the things of God. We are becoming more godless and more bold in our rebellion against God. Our government, our schools, our courts have all been lost to the philosophies of this world. I believe that it is our own fault because we have failed to be the salt and light God has called us to be. It is easy to become discouraged and fall into despair over these things.
The lost are going to do what it is natural for them to do. They are going to war against the things of God and we shouldn’t be surprised.
Let me remind you what Hillary Clinton said:
“And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed” – April, 2015 – The 6th Annual Women of the World Summit
She was speaking on women’s needs, needs like abortion (killing our unborn children). Her goal, and the goal of the left, is to change the religious beliefs of Americans. We need to remember her attitude toward our religious beliefs and get the the word out to others. This attitude is shared by most of the hard left, and this explains the attack on Christianity that is so prevalent today.
We are being told that it is OK to have our religion but we are just not to practice it in our public lives. Christians who stand for Christian values are being attacked on every hand. Here are some examples of this:
- An Oregon Christian family has been fined $135,000 for refusing to participate in a homosexual “wedding” .
- Barronelle Stutzman, the Washington florist who refused to make flower arrangements for a same-sex wedding.
- Catholic Charities in Illinois shut down its adoption services rather than place children with same-sex couples (as the state required).
These are just a few examples of the assault against our Christian values, the values upon which our nation was founded. Similar things are going on with our neighbors to the north, Canada.
In each of these cases, Christians were not trying to force their religious views on others, .they were just not wanting to be made to do something against their conscience based on deep seated religious beliefs. The beliefs of others were being forced upon them.
This is not like the civil rights movement where someone refused to serve someone because of the color of their skin. This is refusing to participate in something that is contrary to our deeply held religious beliefs. Hillary Clinton says that our beliefs have got to change.
Don’t despair! Don’t get discouraged! Islam seems to be getting a free pass at every turn, but Christianity and conservatism are being crushed. Debauchery, homosexuals, and everything evil is getting promoted.
The Bible says:
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (Galatians 6:9)
Hold fast to this. Don’t be weary in doing that which is right. Sometimes it may seem that the enemy is winning, but God is in control and reward is coming for the faithful.
We are also told in Scripture:
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Our taking a stand for righteousness is not vain or empty. It is not a waist of time.
When we do face persecution, when we are assaulted and ridiculed, remember the promise from Jesus:
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. (Matthew 5:11-12)
When we take a stand and are persecuted for standing true, we have a great reward awaiting us. We are just pilgrims passing through this world. The Bible tells us that we can expect persecution if we stand for righteousness.
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. (2 Timothy 3:12)
We are told that if they hated Jesus, they will hate us also. What is happening should not be a surprise to us.
Let me remind you of the challenge of the Apostle Paul to the believers in Rome.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)
We are not to be conformed to this world. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
The world wants us to conform. Hillary Clinton and the liberals want us to conform to their ways of debauchery. They say we can’t have our religious beliefs. They try to tell us that they are not good for our day. They want us to change and conform to their distorted view of what is right.
They will continue to push their agenda, but we, as Christians, have to push back. We are commanded not to be like the world because we are not of this world. We have been bought with a price and are children of the ruler of the universe. We are new creatures through the saving blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. We are no longer in bondage to the ways of this world.
We have a great example in the Old Testament of three men who would not conform to the ways of this world. You know the story, they would not bow to the king’s idol and were cast into a fiery furnace. You will notice that, as they would not bow, they would not burn either. They knew that God could deliver them out of the king’s hand, but even if He did not, they were going to remain true to Him and not bow to an idol.
Just as with these three men, we must not bow to the pressures of this world. God can deliver us, but even if He does not, we must not bow. We must have the courage to stand for truth and righteousness no mater what the cost may be. The reward will be far grater than the sacrifice.
Let me close with this statement by the Apostle Paul, who was willing to sacrifice all for his Lord:
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; (2 Corinthians 4:17)
