We often share news on our FaceBook page, Fortress of Faith Radio, that we don’t have time to put here. Today I want to cover a few of these items.
In Ann Arbor, Michigan, Muslims make up a large part of the population. It is just outside of Dearborn, MI. They wanted to build a mosque in Pittsfield Township. An Islamic cleric, Shaykh Moataz Al-Hallak, came to America from Syria in the 1980’s. He has been organizing and starting mosques every since.
The community said no to the building of this mosque. This is discrimination against a religious organization, and our laws do not permit this. CAIR and the Justice Department sued the city. The city was going to loose so they struck a deal and paid a settlement to Shaykh Moataz Al-Hallak and his mosque of 1.7 million dollars. Instead of stopping the mosque from being built, they actually funded it with taxpayer money.
The settlement allows the mosque to build a 70,000 square foot Islamic school, a residential development of 22 duplex units, and 3 single family homes, plus a park and other things.
This is an example of how not to resist Islam. We have to accept that we cannot stop them from building their mosques. To resist Islam we need to recognize that there is a difference between the religious aspects and the government aspect. Since we have freedom of religion, we must allow them to build their mosques, pray their prayers, go on their pilgrimages, and follow the religious aspect of Islam, but we must stop them from bringing in the governmental aspects (Sharia) of Islam. We have a government and a legal system, and if they want to live in America, they must submit to it. If you want more information on this get my book, Refuting Islam.
Obama has released one of the bombers of the USS Cole attack. On Thursday morning, sailors on board the USS Cole were lining up for an early lunch. Seventeen of them died as an Al Qaeda bomb on board a fishing boat tore through the hull outside the galley.
Walid bin Attash, a planner of the USS Cole bombing and who also played a role in the 9/11 attack, is still at Gitmo. His trial continues to drag on while he and his lawyers play games. Rahim Hussein al-Nashiri, another of the planners, is still awaiting trial. But Mashur Abdallah Ahmed al Sabri, one of the members of the USS Cole cell, has already been released by Barack Obama from Guantanamo Bay.
I don’t know how your feel about it, but I think our President’s job is to keep our nation safe. It doesn’t seem that Obama feels the same way.
In Pakistan, Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of 5, has been falsely accused of blasphemy. She has been in prison for 7 years. Finally, the Supreme Court in Pakistan is hearing her case. If she is found guilty of blasphemy against the religion of Islam, she will be hung. We need to be in prayer for her and her family.
Remember Who Is In Control
Let me close with some important thoughts. First of all we need to remember that God is still on the throne. I know we live in a day where we see wickedness on every front. John Calvin said that when God judges a nation, He gives us wicked leaders, and I agree with this statement. The Bible, in Proverbs, says:
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. (Proverbs 29:2)
The Bible also tells us:
The king’s heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. (Proverbs 21:1)
No matter how wicked the leaders of our nation have become, we must remember that God is still sovereign, He is still on the throne, and He is able to change the kings heart.
I love the passage in Daniel where we see the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who refused to conform to the orders of a wicked king. He demanded that they worship an ido, and they would not bend to his command. The king threw them in the fire, and they wouldn’t burn. God delivered them out of the fiery furnace. Because of this, the king realized that he was not really in control, God is in control. The God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is the real true God, and he praised their God.
Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. (Daniel 3:28)
As wicked as it may seem, God is still able to change the king’s words.
The great Mississippi river is 2,350 Miles long, is 11 miles wide at widest point, and dumps into the Gulf of Mexico. Think of how many gallons of water flow through there. On Feb 7, 1812, the Mississippi flowed in the opposite direction. From Dec 1811 to March 1812, there was a series of 2,000 earthquakes in New Madrid. On Feb 7th one was estimated to be 8.8 on the Rector Scale. it was in the south eastern corner of Missouri and was felt in Boston and it made rung church bells. It caused the river flowed North for 15 miles.
Let me remind you, the God who can change the direction of rivers, can change the wickedness that is going on in the lives of the leaders of this nation. Let’s pray that God will bring this nation back to righteousness.
