I want to look at the travel ban again. We are waiting on the 9th Circuit Court’s decision. They may get it wrong, as this court often does. The 9th Circuit Court is the most overturned court in the nation. I am not holding by breath waiting for them to come down with the right decision. It is interesting that they are taking their time in coming out with their ruling. This indicates that there is division in their debate. We will see what happens.
I can’t see how they are going to get around the fact that the President has the right to do what he did. Congress has given this power to the President to make this kind of decisions. Let me give you the law again:
8 U.S.C. § 1182(f)—provides:
Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.
A class could me almost anything including a religious group. If the President believes that any class of people entering into the United States is detrimental to our safety, he has the power to, by proclamation and for as long as he deems it necessary, suspend their entry into the country.
The possible problem is what they are calling the establishment clause. In the First Amendment to the US Constitution it reads:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
The tactic of the liberals who are trying to overturn President Trump’s executive order is calling it a Muslim ban and saying that it is a law against the establishment of a religion in this country. They say that it establishes Christianity as the religion in this country, and bans Islam.
I have read the executive order, and it makes no mention of Islam, of Muslim, or any other religion. It just so happens that the threat is coming from countries that are majority Muslim countries. The list of nations, and the danger, was determined by the Obama administration. It was the intelligence officials under Obama that stated there was a terrorist threat from these 7 nations.
The only mention of religion in the order is to say that any minority religion that is suffering persecution shall be given priority as refugees. No specific religion is mentioned. I believe this is the honorable position for our nation to take. I believe this would include Christians, who are definitely being persecuted in these 7 countries. It would also include the Yazidi people.
Even if the 9th Circuit Court rules to continue the stay of the executive order, I don’t see how it can stand up on appeal to the Supreme Court.
One more thing, if presidents issue executive orders, this is the king of orders they should issue. They need to be limited in time and scope. The order was never intended to create law. It was simply a temporary measure so the government would have time to deal with the issues involved.
There was a poll done in Europe, and the results are very interesting. The poll covered 10 European countries. The sample included adults over the age of 18 from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the UK. It included 10,000 people, making it a very exhaustive poll. It covered the majority of the strong European nations. The poll found that only 20% of those polled disapprove of the travel ban that President Trump issued. A great majority of the Europeans think it is a good thing to stop those coming from these countries from coming here. The Europeans have first hand experience with the influx of refugees from these countries, and they support President Trump’s travel ban.
Another interesting poll in America shows that 57% of Americans agree with the travel ban. These two poll show that the liberals who are against the ban are in the minority. The efforts to stop this is just a political ploy to stop Trump.
There is also an American poll of 10 European countries in 2016 shows that the majority of the public had an unfavorable view of Muslims living in their country in at least 5 of these countries. Those countries that had the lowest disapproval rate were the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. These countries have the worst experience of Muslims living in their countries.
Let me share my own experience. I lived 29 years in the United Kingdom. For those of you who may new to Fortress of Faith, what got me started studying this was that I had heard for decades that Shariah Law Courts were coming to the UK. I dismissed it as dreamy thinking, there was no way it would happen. I was really wrong. I was shocked when, on September 4th, 2008, the government capitulated to the Muslims living there, and agreed that 7 Shariah Law Courts would open with the government’s backing. Within a year there were 85 such courts, and now there are more than 100.
The British people are not under the authority of these courts. What it does mean is that Muslims are not obligated to live by British law, they now have their own laws. In essence, British law applies to everyone except Muslims.
Remember, the UK is only 6% Muslim. This shows the power a small minority can exercise in a nation. The government capitulated to the Muslims, and they are regretting it.
According to the word I get from my sources in England, the reason the UK voted to pull out of the EU is the open border policy that was being forced upon them. There was a great influx of Muslims, and they were becoming more militant, more orthodox, more fundamental in the practice of Islam. The Muslims of the past were generally cultural Muslims. The were liberal Muslims who did not really practice Islam in any serious manner. They didn’t try to force their religion on others like they do now.
This same pattern is spreading across Europe. It is happening because quarter of the world is now Muslim and Muslims think this is their opportunity to take over the world.
We must protect ourselves, but let’s reach the Muslims who are in our country. Let’s bring Christ to them, and bring them to salvation. They can’t get the Gospel message in their countries. While trying to reach them, we must also support our government in protecting our borders from those who want to do us harm.
