Christian Apologetics toward Islam and Missions to Muslims

The False Teaching of Evolution – Part 5

This month we are talking about Christian apologetic. We started dealing with the false teachings of evolution. We are going to continue on this subject today. Last week we had Skip Tilton, the founder of From Day One Ministries. with us on our broadcast, and he was back with us again this week.

Last week we dealt with the foundation we must have is we are going to stand up for our Christian faith. We are often challenged by statements like, God doesn’t exist, the Bible is just a bunch of fairytales, and we got here by evolution, not the direct creation of God. We are told that we are weak, and our religion is just a crutch. We need to be able to give an answer to these, and other issues that we are often faced with.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: (1 Peter 3:15)

Our goal is to give you the knowledge and the answers needed to answer those who challenge our faith.

Last week we talked about the conflict between two world views. Facts don’t speak for themselves, they must be interpreted. Our world view will determine how we see the facts. We must have a biblical world view if we are going to properly interpret facts. As we approach the Issue of evolution we need to understand that those on the other side have a different world view, and the interpret the facts differently.

We must also understand the the humanist is rebellious, and, because of his world view, he will interpret the facts differently. His interpretation is a choice he makes because he will not accept that there is a God who created the world, and to whom he is accountable.

There is a discussion about intelligent design. Many take hope, thinking this is the weakness of the evolutionists. When we look at the creation, it seems obvious that there is a designer. There has to be intelligence behind what we see. Order can never come out of disorder without input from an intelligent source.

The secular humanists tell us that somewhere in the past, no one knows how or why, some 4.5 billion years ago inorganic material burst on the scene. Somehow, that inorganic material became organic. When it became organic, it was somehow able to conform itself into design. That is amazing, but it is the belief system of evolution.

Biology is information science, and it looks at the information within biology to understand it. Darwin had no idea what was inside the cells that make up living matter. Today we see the complexity of a cell with its nucleus, the DNA, the RNA, and how they all work together. The term intelligent design comes from looking at our world and recognizing that there is design, complex design, structures that exist, that could not come about on their own. It could not have happened by chance.

This brings us to the question of where this design came from. There are two views, one is a group of people who are not Christians and actually see the design, like Dr. Michael Behe, who wrote a book “Darwin’s Black Box.” He challenged his evolutionist friends. He said that what we see does not fit with molecules to man evolution. The problem with some of these people is they want to put this design to some alien, rather than a Creator God. This is the intelligent design movement.

When we look at this with a biblical world view, what we see in creation matches what we see in God’s Word. God said that He created everything after its kind and that’s what we find in our world. We see it in biology, chemistry, geology, and other sciences.

There are those who say that because of similarity, one creature must have evolved from another, or from a common ancestor. For example, the human eye is identical to that of a giant squid, does that mean that we are related to a giant squid? We say no, because God created them differently, after their kind. We have a common designer, so we can expect common design elements through creation. It is like Ford. Ford has a six cylinder engine, and uses the same engine in several different cars. The cars look different, but they have the same engine.

The intelligent design people cannot accept that a deity created these things. If they do, He is in charge of the truth. If they eliminate God, then man is in charge of the interpretation of the facts. They are willing to admit that the Darwinian model of evolution doesn’t hold watter because it doesn’t fit with the evidence of the design we see in the world. They can’t accept that God is the intelligence behind creation, so they credit ET (an alien from outer space) for the design.

The doctrine, the teaching, is evolution, but the parent of the doctrine is humanism. Humanism put man in charge.

When I was growing up in England, I was taught evolution in my religious education class. Wouldn’t you think you would learn about this in your science classes? The truth is, evolution belongs in the religious education classes because it is a religious doctrine, the doctrine of no God. It really is an issue of faith.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. (Psalms 14:1)

Of course, some of the evolutionary doctrine was also taught in my science classes.

Creation and evolution fall into the category of historical science. It is something that happened in the past. Nobody was there to see it happen. It is a belief system about what happened in the past. We can’t really prove which one of these two belief system really happened in the past because historical science happened in the past. We use operational science to look at our world.

It is because of operational science that we have things like electricity, heating and air conditioning, and all the modern conveniences that bless our lives today. All of the great advances we see today are because of operational science. Historical science happened in the past, it is a belief system based upon the interpretation of the facts we find in our world.

The attack is on the real history of the world. Today we see some in the Middle East destroying historical artifacts. Why? It is because they want people to forget about the real history of the world so they will accept their false belief system.

This subject does tie into what we normally teach at Fortress of Faith. Islam does have a different history system. They even have a different calendar system. According to Islam, the year is 1462, or something like that, it is not 2017.

When we look in the Scriptures, it is interesting that we find Lucifer coming down and saying to Eve, “Hath God Said?” He challenged the authority of the Word of God. We are fighting the same battle today.
