Christian Apologetics toward Islam and Missions to Muslims

The Christian Response to the Muslims Coming to America

What should be the Christian response to Muslims coming to America?

Prov 29:2  When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

It is important that we elect leaders who stand for righteousness. Righteousness comes from the precepts of God’s Word, not from man’s morality. Morality is a moving target, it is based upon what man thinks is socially acceptable at any given place or time.

Someone said, if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. This seems to be what is happening in our nation today.

We need to understand that there is an ideology that seeks our destruction. It is called Islam, and it wants to destroy our way of life. We must stop playing the game that says Islam is benign and not dangerous in and of itself. It is not OK to allow its ideology to propagate in our country.

Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

The Dark Side

There is an upside to the subject of Muslims coming to America, but I want to start by talking about the dark side. There is a legitimate danger of allowing Muslims into our nation, and we need to understand what it is.

Nations need to keep their borders secure and have a good immigration policy. A good example of not doing this is what happened to the American Indians. They didn’t have a good immigration policy and they got taken over. This will happen to any society that doesn’t protect their borders and guard who comes in.

The problem we face with Islamic refugees is, they will not assimilate into our culture. It is largely because of their Islamic teachings or their faith. Listen to what Omar Ahmed, the co-founder of CAIR said on July 4, 2011.

“Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran is the highest authority in America, and Islam is the only accepted religion on earth.”

Muslims who follow the teachings of Islam are not here to assimilate, they are here to dominate.

Our Vetting System is broken

On average, 112,000 refuges are allowed into US each year. Most of them are Muslim refugees. This does not include immigrants who come in through other kinds of visas. This only includes those who are seeking asylum. in our country.

President Obama stood before the UN Obama promised to bring in 10,000 Syrian refuges by September 30th 2016.  He made this promise 12 months prior to that date. It takes 18 months to properly vet the refugees. There is a lot of concern about terrorists infiltrating the refugees from Syria. We were assured by the Obama administration and by the media that the refugees are the most throughly vetted people coming into our country. There is some truth to that statement, but when you reduce the time from 18 months to 12 months or less, it changes that. This is a red flag that tells us that the vetting process is being shortcut to keep this promise.

We have reported that one official who was vetting these refugees dealt with 4 of them who had put acid on their fingertips so there fingerprints could not be taken. This tells us that we can’t trust them because they have something to hide. This official failed them, but his superiors approved them and allowed them into the country because there was a quota that had to be met. We later found out that we did not bring in 10,000, we brought in 15,000.

Syria is a failed State and there is no way to vet refugees from that country. The truth is, many of those coming from Syria were not Syrians, they were from other countries. The word got out to other countries that the doorway was open to Europe and the US through Syria. This became a way to flood the West with Muslims. ISIS was even able to get their faithful soldiers into the refugee population. We have seen evidence of the ISIS infiltration in Europe.

There is a legitimate risk when we allow refugees from countries where they cannot be properly vetted. We should petition our government to protect us from ideologies like Islam whose goal it is to take away our freedoms and destroy our way of life.

What should be the Christian response?

Christians should encourage our political leaders to do all they can to protect us from ideologies that want to do us harm.

Quote President Theodore Roosevelt  (26th)

Christianity is not the creed of Asia and Africa at this moment solely because the seventh century Christians of Asia and Africa had trained themselves not to fight, whereas the Moslems were trained to fight. Christianity was saved in Europe solely because the peoples of Europe fought. If the peoples of Europe in the seventh and eighth centuries, an on up to and including the seventeenth century, had not possessed a military equality with, and gradually a growing superiority over the Mohammedans who invaded Europe, Europe would at this moment be Mohammedan and the Christian religion would be exterminated. Wherever the Mohammedans have had complete sway, wherever the Christians have been unable to resist them by the sword, Christianity has ultimately disappeared. From the hammer of Charles Martel to the sword of Sobieski, Christianity owed its safety in Europe to the fact that it was able to show that it could and would fight as well as the Mohammedan aggressor…

As Christians, we need to be ready to fight for the freedoms we enjoy in America. The ideologies that want to take our freedoms also want to destroy our Christian faith.

Bible supports the right to protect yourself and fight!

Lu 22:36 …. and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Lu 11:21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:

THE UP SIDE

The greatest  upside to the Muslim immigration is the opportunity to evangelize one of the most unreached people groups on earth.

The Pew Report says there are 1.7 Billion Muslims in the world today which is 23% of the world’s population.

According to the Zwemer Institute, less than 1% of our missionaries are targeting the Muslim population. This means that 99% of missionaries are neglecting nearly one quarter of the world’s population. The reason for this is, we can’t get into their countries.

The upside to this problem is that they are coming here. The FBI reports there are  7 Million Muslims in the US. Muslim organizations like CAIR tell us there are 10 million Muslims in America. Since they are here, we can evangelize them. There are no laws prohibiting this like there are in their countries. About 80% are coming here to get away from the tyranny of Islam. They are coming to get away from what Islam has to offer, and they are looking for something different. We need to take the time to learn how to reach them with the Gospel. It can be done.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Mat 5:44

We should love Muslims enough, and care enough for their souls, to try and reach them for Christ. We have a great opportunity for evangelism before us. We need to take advantage of it.

The first foreign missionary of the Bible was Jonah. He was told by God to go the Nineveh and preach to the Assyrians. They were enemies of Israel, and he did not want to go. Today, Nineveh is in Iran. Imagine if God called you to go to Nineveh today. There are reports that many Iranians are converting to Christianity today.. Of course it is all underground because it would cost them their lives.

The Bible tells us to preach the Gospel to EVERY creature.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mar 16:15

We are not to limit our evangelistic efforts just to those we love and care about, we are to take the Gospel to everyone.

Conclusion

I want to close today with the following verse:

Pr 3:27  Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

If we have people coming to our country who are not here to harm us, they are due the good we can give to them. It may not be in the power of our hand to take the Gospel to those in Muslim lands, but it is within the power of our hand to take it to those who are here.

There are two responses that we, as Christians, should have to the Muslim immigration.

  • Encourage our government officials to do all in their power to protect us from those who would come here and do us harm.
  • Take the Gospel to those who come here, even if they are our enemies. We have a great opportunity, let’s not waste it!
